"Maybe you don’t know for sure, but something feels off when you think about a certain relationship or interaction with an institution or organization.

You feel alone and confused—but calling it “abuse” feels extreme, a label for what happens to other people, not you. Yet you can’t shake the feeling: something’s not right."

People often come to The Way Home in seasons of confusion, harm, or urgent need.   We offer steady guidance and practical support as you take your next steps.

The Way Home helps in two primary ways:

Individuals

Churches

Healing from spiritual abuse and church harm

Navigating crisis, loss, and betrayal of trust

Church members and those in need are predisposed to trust church and religious leaders, but sometimes our experiences with spiritual leaders are confusing. What happens when spiritual leaders use their influence in ways that bring harm? Or seem to strive for control instead of shepherding and caring for those in their congregations? The impact of controlling leadership on individuals and congregations is costly, but abused believers and churches can find rest and recovery, hope and healing.
